Fighting Disability
Yet another Honorable Mention went to the photograph portraying a group of disabled children. But look closely; they may be disabled, yet their spirit is indomitable as they sing “Amra korbo joy... amra korbo joy... amra korbo joy ekdin... (We shall overcome… one day)”, while raising all their hands to show conviction that indeed they are special.
Mohaimeen Islam Badhon started photography in 2008, after he bought his first DSLR camera. This is not only a hobby, but a very integral part of being an architect. He is in his final year under the discipline at BUET. Badhon had taken the photograph while visiting the William & Marrie Taylor School of CRP in Savar. He was touched by the true spirit of these children as they were able to perfectly portray all their feelings of joy without hesitation of any sorts, while we would think twice in expressing anything at all.
