Koyra, Two Years After Aila

Aila struck Bangladesh in May 2009, putting coastal people in severe danger. About half a million people had to leave their homes and find temporary shelter when huge tidal waves came crashing down with winds raging at 100 kmph. People in Koyra have been living in floods since then and only in the past few months has their land become dry. No agriculture has taken place, nor did the people have drinking water. They did not even have the place to bury their loved ones. Two years after Aila, the first signs of life are back. The grass is growing. But the place cannot yet fully support the livelihood of people.
