LS Desk Chittagong chitchat TAVA Tandoor Let's say you're fed up with the traditional Chinese and the new 'cool' fast food places that have been springing up like wild mushrooms. You long for a 'quiet' dinner, where you can devote some quality time to your family, preferably in a place where you don't have to scream for your voice to be audible. In this case the place that'll match you perfectly is TAVA. Situated in Kulshi, just next to "Wai Kiki", it's the perfect place to visit any day of the week. Step inside and it's like you have entered a new world, a world where the hectic schedule of civilisation doesn't seem to exist. Even if you're naturally picky about your food, and have refined tastes, you don't have to worry. If you're looking for traditional, you might be content settling for beef shish kababs, and chicken tikkas; if you want something different, try their grilled fish on charcoal, spicy chicken sizzlers or even a duck item. Their tangy and peppery 'Chicken and Prawn Salad' is certainly different than the bland salads that are normally served at other places. And their Indonesian dishes are divine. We all know that food alone does not make a perfect dinner; ambience plays a big part too. TAVA comprises of two choices for the perfect ambience. You can choose to sit indoors, with muted lighting and a formal atmosphere, or you can opt to sit outdoors under the dark starry night sky, and commune with nature. The sitting arrangement outside is unbelievable. Each of the little 'umbrellas' is surrounded by tall shrubbery, separating you effectively from the rest of the crowd present there. Individual umbrellas have individual sound boxes playing a selection of popular instrumental music, loud enough to fill silences in conversations, but muted enough to allow them to progress. In today's world of hustle and bustle, it's exceedingly difficult to find a place like TAVA, a place where you can sit after a hard day's work, relax and unwind. And most importantly, it's a place where you can devote some quality time to your family and to yourself. By
Jennifer Ashraf Diary of a Food Obsessed Person BY Sam Q Dearest Diary, I had once mentioned this in passing, years ago at a party that my dream wear, be it on a woman or a man, is a white shirt with blue jeans. In the midst of all that cacophony, a voice answered back saying, my love for this fashion wasn't strong enough. If it was, apparently, I would try hard enough to get into it. I salute you Mubarak bhai, wherever you are. You were so right. I ignominiously accept your statement now, after all these years. You were so right. I did not try hard enough. Another thin dream of mine is, buying clothes off the shelf. Since I cannot do it for myself I, with much vigour and enthusiasm have broadened my husband's wardrobe considerably. Tried with my son, but you know how teenagers are, a cognoscenti in every subject. So I let it be. I can manage, control, every other aspect of my life, but managing a teenager is a whole new ball game altogether. By the way, cognoscenti are people who know or are considered to be well informed about a subject. Teenagers, by some misconception think that they are an authority on all subjects. This above statement is in no way a dig at my son but my general opinion on teens. Anyway back to my
thin dreams (I do kinda stray from my point). You know diary how thin
people pull their knees close to their chest and their arms in front.
Just love that pose. Sadia does that so well. And crossing your legs.
Oh! That is so elegant. Combine the shredded
chicken with egg white, salt and corn flour into a small bowl and refrigerate
for 10 mins. Clean the pan or
wok and re-heat about one tbsp of the drained oil. Add the sesame seeds
and stir fry for a minute, till light brown. Then add all the sauce
ingredients and bring to boil. Return the cooked chicken to the pan
and sauté |
