Tips

Magic of Vinegar

Do you know about the magical qualities of vinegar? If you have thought all these years that vinegar is solely used for cooking purposes, then we believe you are mistaken.

This sour liquid has magic abilities to serve so many useful purposes. For instance, vinegar can deter ants. Spray a lot of vinegar around doors, kitchen and along other areas, which are mostly attacked by ants.

If you want to kill the weeds that have thrived in your garden, spray vinegar to kill these unwanted plants.

Vinegar can keep vegetables fresh. You can soak wilted vegetables in 2 cups of water and a tablespoon of vinegar.

The days are sticky now. And to relieve yourself from sunburn, lightly apply white vinegar on the sunburnt areas.

Vinegar also works as a good conditioner for your hair. You can apply vinegar in your hair after each shampoo. Vinegar can also fight dandruff. Rinse your hair with a mixture made from 2 cups of warm water and vinegar after each shampoo.

Vinegar is also great at removing fruit stains from hands.

You can clean your refrigerator with equal amount of water and vinegar.

Onion has a tough smell. To remove odour of onion from your hands, rub vinegar before and after slicing onions.

To Remove tough stains of fruit, jam, mustard, coffee, and tea, gently rub vinegar on the affected area and then wash as usual.

Lastly, you can keep cut flowers fresh and radiant, add 2 tablespoons vinegar and 1 teaspoon sugar for each quart of water.

Vinegar is available in all the superstores and general stores of Dhaka; there are too many brands to choose from, and the price of a bottle costs about tk.20.

Did you know...

That it's always best to wear colours that flatter you, irrespective of what is in fashion. Ochre, mango yellow is a good colour for dark girls and its also popular this season. A suitable shade of orange, like brick red can also be flattering.

That horizontal stripe tends to add width. If you are slim and tall then that won't matter much, but if you are slightly chubby or on the heavier side do not even think of looking at stripes.

Red is a colour that no one should do without. If you are hesitant to wear it as an ensemble, then use it to accessorise your outfit, it gives any drab outfit the much needed pizzazz.

Outrageous

Army experts guess that at least eight Ak-47 were taken away from the arms cache seized on April 02 in Chittagong. The missing arms may pose a threat to the security of the country. This is of course a matter of anxiety.

A cruel father killed his newborn twin daughters at Bhandaria of Pirozpur in the early hours of April 8. Killing of girl child like this is appalling.
