Robi-NSU ICT Innovation Quest 2012
To find out how information and communication technology (ICT) can help in the advancement of two of the most promising sectors of the country- tourism and healthcare, North South University Computer Club (NSUCC) successfully organised an idea generation contest namely 'Robi-NSU ICT Innovation Quest 2012'. The programme ended with a grand finale on September 24, 2012.
Mostafa Faruque Mohammed, Minister, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh attended as the chief guest and M A Hashem, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU Trust chaired the session as the special guest. Dr Mohammad Abdus Sattar, Acting Vice Chancellor, NSU and Mohiuddin Babar, Vice President, Robi-Axiata Limited were also present at the occasion.

The contest was appealed by the students of all major universities of the country. Around 80 teams from more than 25 universities registered for the event during the road shows which ended on August 8, 2012. The participants took part in the workshop held on August 10, 2012 where they were informed about the different problems of tourism and healthcare sectors. In light of those, the contesting teams submitted concept notes. Initially 30 teams were selected by the 16 juries based on the concept notes. The selected teams presented their ideas to the judges on the group stage, held on September 14. After a tough competition, 10 teams were selected for the grand finale. There was a grooming session and a field trip to Gazipur Kapashia GPCIC for the 10 teams held consecutively on September 18 and 20. During the field-trip they were instructed on how they can enrich their ideas. The 10 teams presented their ideas in the grand finale.
The team Optimus from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology and the team Lighting Activist from University of Dhaka became the Champion and the Runners up respectively. The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners.
