Training on Grading Policy and Procedure at IUBAT

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) recently organised a daylong training on Grading Policy and Procedure for its faculty members of different colleges, departments and programmes to give comprehensive exposure into the modus operandi of the grading system. This would facilitate proper grooming for students in line with global changes.

Professor Dr M Alimuillah Miyan, Vice Chancellor of IUBAT explored that examination is an instrumental learning tool for both the students and instructors.

Rizna Nahar, Assistant Registrar of IUBAT, made a short presentation on the procedure of calculating Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) while Imran Mahmud, Faculty member, Computer Science and Engineering, responsible for online and SMS result publication, made a presentation on procedure of grading in the grade-sheet performance for efficient and timely publication of results which correlates students and guardians' satisfactions.


Festival at ULAB

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), organised a two day long "CSE Festival Summer 2012" on July 19 and July 21, 2012. The festival included a programming contest and a gaming contest. Dr Sazzad Hossain, Head of the Department of CSE, Dr Jahirul Haque, Director, Academic Affairs and other faculty members of the CSE Department were present in the festival.

The aim of the programming contest is to create the opportunity for young talented programmers in ULAB to show their programming talents and to create a national awareness for the development of programming skills.


Blood Donation Programme at Presidency University

A blood donation programme was organised by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society at Presidency University on July 18, 2012. A large number of students donated blood for helping the patients who need blood. In the inaugural session, Professor Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Head, M H School of Business, Presidency University, Shibli Ahmed Khan, Head, English Department, Y A M Rafiqul Haq, programme Coordinator, and S M Abdus Shakur spoke at the event.


Workshop on English for Better Communication

Green University English Center organised an International Language Workshop on “English for Better Communication” on July 14-15, 2012 at the Green University auditorium. Three resource persons were present in the workshop. In the first session Maria May, an American instructor arranged various language activities focusing on the topic 'English for Better Communication'. The second session was instructed by Syeda Sanjida Islam, Director, Green University English Center and Chairperson, Department of English, GUB. She worked on 'Achieving the Standard Pronunciation of English Words'. Furthermore, in the third session Marina Wilke, a Canadian instructor focused on 'The Improvement of Fluency in English.'

Practically, the learners showed a huge degree of enthusiastic response to the international language workshop. Finally, certificates were awarded by Professor Dr Quazi Deen Mohd Khosru, Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh.


Seminar at IUB

International Centre for Climate Change and Development organised a seminar on Green Banking at Independent University, Bangladesh, on July 21, 2012.The chief guest at the programme was Atiur Rahman, Governor, Bangladesh Bank. The welcome address was given by Dr Saleemul Huq, Director, ICCCAD, IUB. Apart from that, remarks by Professor M Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, IUB, and Towhid Samad, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, were made on the issue.


Textile Quality Management and Textile Testing
Organised at NITTRAD

A three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on “Textile Quality Management and Textile Testing” was organised at the National Institute of Textile Training Research and Design (NITTRAD), Nayerhat, Savar from July 15-17, 2012.

The ToT programme was conducted by internationally reputed textiles and clothing expert Professor Marie Louise Klotz, President of the Rhine-Wall University of Germany. The training programme was attended by 31 faculty members of different textile Universities and Colleges and technical personnel working in the textile enterprises of the country. Both theoretical and practical aspects of the topics have been discussed and demonstrated by the expatriate expert for better understanding of the subject. The ToT programme has been found to be highly beneficial for the attendees.

The certificates awarding ceremony held on July 17, was attended by the chief guest Professor Shaheeda Rafique, Dean of the faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka and others.


NUB completes Summer IT Week-2012

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Northern University, Bangladesh, arranged 'Summer IT Week- 2012' from July 14-20, 2012 at their Banani Campus. Information Technology projects competition (hardware and software) and three seminars and three workshops on various aspect of Information Technology were organised on the occasion of IT week. Professor Dr AYM Abdullah, Chairman, NUB Trust was the chief guest at the prize giving and conclusion ceremony and Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, NUB, chaired the ceremony.

ABM Rashedul Hassan, Treasurer, and Professor Dr Md Nurul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering of Northern University, spoke as special guests in the concluding ceremony. Many other important personnel were present at the programme.


Inter Department Debate Ends at CU

The 12th Bangla and 6th inter department debate competition was organised by central debate organisation of Chittagong University (CUDS). About 60 teams from different departments participated in the programme.

Finance and Banking Debate Association (FBDA) received the honour of championship and management became the runner's up, while Nur Hossein Nirzor got the best speaker award.

The chief guest of the programme, Professor Md Anuarul Azim Arif, Vice Chancellor of CU said that "Arguments have power to build a real society and our youth will overcome all the obstacles by establishing their arguments."


Milestone College Has Continued Success in HSC Examinations

In this year, a total of 1652 students appeared for the HSC examinations from Milestone College. A total of 714 students scored GPA-5 and 875 students have scored 'A' grade. Total of 988 students appeared from science group and 458 students have scored GPA-5 and 475 students have scored 'A' grade.

The principal of Milestone College, Professor Md Shahidul Islam said, "Milestone is committed to ensure quality in education that can help a student be an ideal person, create humane character, have dreams and implement them."
