Aunique exhibition titled “Bangla Miniature” took place at Dhanmondi's Drik Gallery from November 25 to 29. The unique exhibition carried 70 miniature art pieces by Palash Uddin Khalifa, Lecturer at Art & Craft Institute at Khulna Public College. Inspired by the stories on “Miniature Art” from the Guinness book of world records, Khalifa started painting in this form 15 years ago. Starting on small pieces of paper, he gradually went for smaller surfaces like handkerchiefs, rice and even mustard seeds.

Entering the exhibition one must have wondered where actually the exhibition was taking place!

Portrait of William Shakespeare on a 1x1 mm paper, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on a mustard seed, Mona Lisa on a rice grain were a few to name among the diversified miniatures showcased at the exhibition. Miniature books sized around 8x5.5x3.5 mm were another set of attraction that had pencil sketches and poetry inside.

Water colour and pencil sketches are Khalifa's most used forms. He says, “My target is to make a world record. If I do not succeed, then my plan is to spread this initiative called 'Bangla Miniature' to as many countries as possible, for the whole world to know my country, its history and heritage.”
