Celebrating 1 st Anniversary of AAC

AAC (AIUB Arts Club) organised an art exhibition on AIUB-campus 7 from 25 September to 3 October to celebrate their 1st anniversary. It was inaugurated by Dr. Carmen Z Lamagna, Vice Chancellor of AIUB. Officials and faculty members were present in the opening ceremony.

The aim of this exhibition is to increase the eagerness of the students towards various fields of Arts. AAC arranged orientation course for the interested students. A large number of paintings and sculpture works were displayed in the exhibition.

 


Inter-faculty Volleyball Competition of BAU

THE inter-faculty volleyball competition of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) began in BAU stadium from September 25-30.

The departments who took part in this competition were, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Economics and Rural Sociology, Agriculture Engineering and Technology, and Fisheries. Teachers and students of the six departments were present at the inaugural session of the competition.

Dean of Agriculture Faculty Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Karim inaugurated the competition as chief guest. President of the Sports Organising Committee and BAU Students Affairs Adviser Prof. Md. Mustafizur Rahman presided it.

BAU register Md. Nazibur Rahman and Director (In-Charge) of Sports Department Mohammad Waliullah, among others spoke at the inaugural session.


Robi organises “Konthe O Tulite Bangladesh” in Khulna

1October 2010, Khulna, Robi Axiata Limited arranged a contest for children titled “Konthe O Tulite Bangladesh”. The contest was held at the divisional museum on 30 September. About 100 students from more than 25 schools took part in this unique contest where they were judged on correct tune and lyrics of the national anthem and proper national map drawing.

The selection of the winners from both the sections, singing and art competition, was reviewed and judged by a panel of judges.

The chief guest Khulna City Corporation Mayor, Mr. Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Additional District Commissioner Education & Development, Mr. Md. Kabirul Hassan handed over the prizes to the top three contestants in each section.

Among others, Head of Communications & Media Relations of Robi, Mohiuddin Babar, Regional Manager, ASM Enayetur Rahim, Sr. Executive Media & PR, Mubasser Anwer Ajmee and other local dignitaries were present in the occasion.


Inter-university debating championship held at East West University

THE final round of inter-university debating championship was held at East West University on 30 September. East West University team secured the first place in the Bangla competition while for English event; London College of Legal Studies "S" group acquired the top position.

Professor Shariff Enamul Kabir, Vice Chancellor, Jahangirnagar University graced the occasion as the chief guest and awarded crests to the top and runner-up teams in this competition. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, President, Board of Trustees of EWU and Professor Mohammed Sharif, Vice Chancellor of East West University was also present in this award giving ceremony and addressed the audience.
A total of 70 teams took part in this competition titled "Debate for the Freedom of Mind". The runner up position was taken by Jahangirnagar University for Bangla event; Dhaka University-IBA secured the same position in the English event of this competition. The chief adjudicator of this competition was Dr. Abdun Noor Tushar.
