An Open Discussion Held in Khulna University

Biotech magazine organized an open discussion on “The Stages of Human Life” on the 24th of January 2008 at the Khulna University auditorium. Mr. Mahbub E. Subhani, Associate Professor of the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Department in Khulna University was the Keynote speaker. Students shared their thoughts and views in the light of science and religion in this discussion.
Mr. Mahbub E. Subhani discussed some fundamental questions of human life In the course of his discussion he disclosed a core relationship between science and religion, mentioning the famous quote of Albert Einstein, “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” The whole discussion was enjoyable with the enthusiastic presentation of Mr. Subhani and the active participation of the audience.
The Faculty members of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Discipline S. M. Mahbubur Rahman, Kazi Didarul Islam and Emdadul Islam also enriched the program with their valuable presence. BIOTECH members were also there to help make the program a success.

New Dhaka International School & College, Baridhara is thinking and acting together to boost civic responsibility in students
Mrs. Fatema Mazid, Founder Principal of New Dhaka International School & College (NDISC) in collaboration with Bangladesh Society for Total Quality Management (BSTQM) has been working towards instilling quality in the students studying in her school. She is a member of the Executive Committee of BSTQM and has participated in several local and international seminars on Quality Circles along with her students and teachers and received awards for her achievements. In addition to the standard curriculum, she teaches her students to learn life skills so that they become responsible citizens. Additional Secretary Mr Ashraful Moqbool in his speech appreciated the innovation for quality education at New Dhaka International School and encouraged the students, teachers and parents to work together for a better tomorrow.
MBA Orientation of IIUC Dhaka Campus held
MBA Orientation programme of 28th batch International Islamic University Chittagong’s Dhaka Campus spring 2008 was held at a city hotel recently. Mr Shah Abdul Hannan, Advisor of IIUC, spoke on the occasion as Chief Guest. Among others Mr Muhammad Ali, Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd, Mr SM Fazlul Haque, Chairman of Choice Group, Prof Dr Muhammad Loqman, Chief, IIUC Dhaka Campus, Mr Musharraf Hossain, President of BSHRM and Engr. Shafiqur Rahman were present at the programme .
AIB Orientation for Faculty and Officers
![](ne02.jpg) The Orientation programme of the faculty and officers of American International University -- Bangladesh (AIUB) for spring semester '07-08 was held on 19th January, 08 at AOIB auditorium. The vice chancellor of the AIUB Dr Carmen Z Lamagna Introduced the newly appointed faculty members at the outset and highlighted the academic calendar of the session. She has given emphasis on quality teaching in the University to keep the AIUB image and also to over come the global challenge. She also stressed on English communication in the class room and advised the faculty to maintain ethics, discipline and obey the policy and rules of the University.
Samaponi held at RU

The provost council of Rajshahi University on Tuesday organised a central 'Samaponi' (a festival of outgoing students) of 2006 batch of Rajshahi University on the campus with a colourful function.
The Samaponi was inaugurated by hall provost council convener Prof Abdul Latif at central stadium of RU.
About 1000 outgoing students of 16 residential halls both boys and girls of RU took part and celebrated the festival.
On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out in the campus that paraded different streets of the campus.
To celebrate the day, the hall students held a grand concert at Sabas Bangladesh premises where students presented songs, recited poem and performed band music.
Rajshahi University news
Rajshahi University authorities on Saturday organized a 'Fresher's Reception' ceremony, 2008' for 1st year students under 2007-2008 academic session at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium. The reception programme was inaugurated by RU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Altaf Hossain while RU Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mamnunul Keramat was present as special guest at the programme. RU VC Prof Altaf Hossain said in the age of globalisation, fresher students have to take challenge of new technology. The pre-condition of education is to acquire knowledge by heart and to utilise it for mankind. He however, called freshers to keep away from evil forces in the holy institution. The grand function was addressed, among others, by RU Social Science faculty dean Prof Sadekul Islam, Law and Justice faculty Dean Prof Asma Siddika, Arts faculty dean Prof Muhammad Shafi , Director of RU Teachers Students Cultural Center(TSCC) Prof Abdur Rahman Siddiki, RU student Adviser Faridul Islam Pintu and RU proctor Prof Enamul Haque.
Seminar on SME held

The Association of Management Development Institutions of Bangladesh (AMDIB) in collaboration with Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Rajshahi University organised a two-daylong national seminar on "SMEs (Small and Medium Scale Enterprises) for Development” at RU Senate Bhavan.
The seminar was inaugurated by RU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Altaf Hossain and was present as chief guest on the seminar. RU Pro-VC Professor Dr Mamnunul Keramat was present as special guest in the ceremony.
AMDIB members include Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Dhaka University and RU, North South University, Academy of Planning and Development, Bank Training Institute and other leading business schools and management development institutions in Bangladesh.
