Shajalal Islami Bank honours graduates

Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd (SJIBL), in association with Dhaka University, honoured 7 students of 2003 and 2004 session for securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in MBA with 'Islamic Economics & Banking' from University of Dhaka. The ceremony was held on March 31 at the conference room of the Faculty of Business Studies, DU.

Chief guest of the event was S M A Faiz, Vice-Chancellor, DU and the special guests were Sajjatuz Jumma, Chairman, SJIBL; Dr MD Serajul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, DU and Dr A R Khan, Chairman, Department of Banking, DU.

The awardees are;
From 2003 session:

Ms Humaira Matin for securing 1st position, Mohammad Bayezid Ali for securing 2nd position and Abdullah al Mazid for securing 3rd position.

From 2004 session:
Abdullah al Mahmud and MD. Shahidul Islam for securing first position (jointly), MS Nusrat Jahan for securing second position and MS Farzana Yasmin for securing third position.

Each awardee received a crest and cash. SJIL gave 10,000 taka to the 1st position holding students while taka 7500 and 5000 respectively to the second and third position holders.




Prize-giving ceremony

The annual prize-giving ceremony of Calso Ideal Academy was held at Mirpur, Dhaka. In the ceremony, a prize named after Litterateur, Educationist and Language Movement Activist Prof. Mobasher Ali was given The program was presided over by the Headmaster of the School Nihar Ranjan Sutar while the Chief Guest was Chairman, School of Business Administration, People's University of Bangladesh and Eminent Economist Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali. Among others Dr. Ruhul Amin, Fajlul Karim, Salimullah, Nazir Ahmed Bhuiyan, Moklesur Rahman, Sujit Chandra Das were present. Speakers discussed the life of Prof. Mobasher Ali and praised his contribution towards enriching the Bengali Language. Students of the School also organized a colorful cultural program.


RU Islamic history Dept. will celebrate golden Jubilee

The Islamic History and Culture department of Rajshahi University (RU) will celebrate their golden jubilee amidst massive enthusiasm of the department on April 12. Around 600 current and former students of the department registered to participate at the daylong colorful program. RU Islamic History and Culture alumni association will start its journey through the golden jubilee.

The Silver Jubilee program will be inaugurated by RU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Altaf Hossain through cutting cake, flying festoons and balloons in the premises of the department. The Department had started its journey in 1956 with a few students. The Department implemented some praiseworthy initiatives for offering quality education in the field such as freeing the department from session jam, and holding regular classes and examinations. A cultural session will be held at the end of the program where artists from within and outside the department will participate.


Debate workshop held at IBA

A workshop on debating style and format was held at IBA on Saturday, March 24, 2007. Two successful ex-debaters of IBA shared their experience of debating in National and international grounds. It was arranged by the recently formed Executive committee of the IBA Debating Club. Around fifty students including the President of IBADC, Shadman Sadikin, General secretary Morshed-Ul-Arefin, Media and Liaison coordinator Fahmida Sultana and other members were present in the workshop. The workshop has been very helpful for young debaters, especially the newly arrived BBA 15th batch.
