Reflection
We were the first batch to pass out of BRAC University!
Looking back.....
"Being the first batch, we had to face many challenges but at the same time we had countless benefits. Having no predecessors, our biggest challenge was figuring out course contents and question formats. There were just a few occasions when the guessing games really favoured us whereas most of the times we used to get things horribly wrong. On the other hand, we always had a special place in the hearts of our teachers. Some of them treated us like friends and others like their sons and daughters. It was a relationship that was unique and special, something we cherished in these four years. Perhaps the most memorable moment for us was the Residential Semester course in TARC, at Savar. This is an experience that will forever remain in our hearts. Our experience as the first batch of BRAC University was filled with trial and tribulations and also with love and happiness and these have helped us build our character, imbue discipline and institute the confidence to take up any form of challenge. And last but not least, the most important ingredient that upholds the spirit of the first batch is our friendship. As the song goes “As our life changes, from whatever, we will still be, Friends Forever...”
Money from home
A kid called up his mom from his college and asked her for some money, because he ran out of it. His mom said, "Sure, sweetie. I'll will send you some money. You also left your calculus book here when you visited 2 weeks ago. Do you want me to send that up too?"
"Uhh, oh yeah, okay," responded the kid.
So his mom wrapped the book along with the checks up in a package and went to the post office to mail the money and the book.
When she got back, her husband asked, "Well how much did you give the boy his time?"
She said, "Oh, I wrote 2 checks, one for $20 and the other for $1000 out to him."
"That's $1020!" yelled her husband. Are you crazy?"
"Don't worry, Hon," she said. "I taped the $20 check to the cover of his book, but I put the $1000 one somewhere between the pages in chapter 19!"
Visiting a country school
While visiting a country school, the chairman of the Board Of Education became provoked at the noise the unruly students were making in the next room. Angrily, he opened the door and grabbed one of the taller boys who seemed to be doing most of the talking. He dragged the boy to the next room and stood him in the corner. A few minutes later, a small boy stuck his head in the room and pleaded, "Please, sir, may we have our teacher back?!!
