AIUB Rag, Summer-2006: A blissful farewell
Didarul Alam Sunny
"Hey Sunny Bhaia”, Said Rinuk, “I want to write something on your t-shirt.” I stopped. “Is this the farewell -- finally here!” I thought. "Oh no! Those sweet, bright days, the addas at the cafeteria, Oh! all those will not come back ever in my life! I couldn't believe that. But that was the fact. I had come to the last day of my university life, which was our sweet home away from home!
That day; I mean the rag day, was full of excitements and thrills, which I won't forget in my entire life. That day all my friends seemed a bit nearer, dearer to me. I just couldn't make myself understand that I have to leave this family, this sweet home. The day was eventful and painted with different hues of colors and joys.
At the beginning of the day, we as usually, finished classes. A deep sense of melancholy cast shadows upon our mind and let out a deep breath, which just reflected our utmost grief. Then all of us came down and gathered outside on the university premises. “Motu Riad” then distributed the rag-day special t-shirts. We all wore those with heavy hearts but nevertheless kept on smiling. Different colors of markers were given to students to write annotations. At first junior students expressed their emotional feelings and good wishes on our t-shirts. Like, “Nayan bhaia, we'll miss u and Ur glittering appearance in the premises”, “Sunny vhaiaaaa!!! We lose our style icon”, etc.
Then everyone shared their own views with others with colorful markers on the t-shirts. After that we congregated and made a small procession led by me. We started for “Western Grill”. There we were given a lunch coupon each and a warm welcome. Our mind, at that time; wanted to fly from one corner to another. The colossal joys knew no bounds and we sank in the “Sea of Joy”. Our respected faculty members were presented there. Pro Vice Chancellor Tareq sir, Ehsanul Huda sir, Razzuk Sir, Samiul sir, shared that dazzling moments with us. The programme was started with the cutting of a large cake. After that we took our food and then the main part of our gratification started, “DANCING”. We rocked the floor, Shouted at the top of our voices, we bloew the balloons with pins and laughed to our hearts' content. The flashes of twenty cameras made the room brighter. Every student wanted to keep the day into the frame so that they can become nostalgic in future seeing this.
Thus the program finished at one time but it left a deep spot in our hearts, which will grow deeper as days will go by. I am sure of that. Gradually the sun went below the horizon taking all the lights of the surrounding. The blissful memories of four years finished following the ending of that memorable day. Our hearts became heavier and tears came automatically. We did not know what to do but realised that a new dimension of life opened up in front of us. And yet we felt forlorn. Yes, AIUB was like our guardian who led us to the path of glory, make us understand the connotation of life, give us the perception to fight against fraudulence, corruption and the power to gain humanitarian qualities. We are grateful to AIUB- “Where the Leaders Are Created”
