Nazrul Jayanti at JKKNIU

JATIYA Kobi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) in Trishal , a culture based university of the country, has taken three-day long elaborate programmes at the campus marking the 111th birth celebration of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The programmes, like cultural shows, cultural competition for children, debate, book fair and photo exhibition on Nazrul are expected to make the celebration more flamboyant.

To mark the occasion, a colourful rally will be brought out on the campus on May 25. Students and teachers of the university will place floral wreaths at the portrait of the poet.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Quaium, a Nazrul researcher will inaugurate the programmes as chief guest at 'Gahi Sammyer Gaan Moncha' of the campus in the afternoon. Vice-Chancellor of JKKNIU Prof. Dr. Giasuddin Ahmed will preside over the inaugural session while treasurer of the university Prof. Dr. Md. Aynul Islam will deliver the welcome speech. Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governer of Bangladesh Bank, will inaugurate the cultural programmes.

Prof. Razia Sultana, Farid Ahmed Dulal, Prof. Abu Hena Abdul Awal, Dr. Mohammad Huda, Maula Prince and Afzalur Rahman Bhuiyan will attend a discussion meeting on the opening day with Prof. Dr. Abdul Khalque in the chair.

On the second day advocate Reza Ali, MP, M. Hamid, Marzia Sultana, Md. Momin Uddin, Dr. Sumitra Shekhar, Mohammad Mohsin, poet Nurul Huda, Ahmed Shakil Hashmi, Sarwar Chowdhury, Dr. Rahman Habib and Ahmedul Bari will attend different sessions.

On the concluding day of the celebration, discussions on life and work of Nazrul will be held. Papers like - Nazrul in writing Bengali Gazal, Nazrul in Bengali drama and film will also be presented with Prof. Dr. Shafiqun Nabi in the chair. Idris Ali, Jahidul Kabir, Rashidun Nabi and Anupom Hayat, among others will take part in the discussion.

Prof. Dr. Sarifa Salua Dina, Raihana Akhtar, Dr. Amrita Lal Bala and Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman will take part in another discussion on Nazrul Literature on the closing day. Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam will preside over it.

Nazrul University Sammanona will also be given to some eminent persons on the concluding day for their contribution in their respective fields.
