Summerfield International School celebrates 36th Anniversary

THE Summerfield International School has celebrated its 36th year Anniversary on 5 and 6 February 2010. On the closing day, Principal Anjum Hossain and Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron distributed prizes amongst the winning teams. Dr. Shahanaz Asraf, Professor of Dhaka University, Dr. Shamim Reza, President, Bangladesh Debating Council Md. Raihanuzzaman Rumman and others were also present at the programme.

The two-day programme included science fair, art competition and cultural activities and many other events. The main attraction of the festival was the Summerfield Debating Championship where 13 different schools from Dhaka participated in the World Schools debating championship format. The participating institutions were European Standard School, Maple Leaf, Scholastica, Dhanmondi Tutorial, Universal Tutorial, Manarat International, Rajuk Uttara Model College, Academia, Summerfield, Aga Khan School, Bangladesh International Tutorial and Oxford International School. The motion for the grand final were 'This house would impose a minimum BMI on fashion Models'. Maple Leaf International School won the championship and Scholastica became the runner up. Raiha Nawal, Saad Ashraf and Zarin Tasneem from Maple Leaf faced Takreem Ridwan Siddiqui, Prioty Sarkar and Farhan Sharif representing Scholastica during the final debate. The Grand Final was adjudicated by Rishad Sharif, Tanvir Hafiz, Wahidul Bari, Naveed Adnan, Ipshit Tarafdar, Saad bin Amjad and Gaows Md. Sabid.
