BSD-CU Adolescents
Awareness Debate Programme 2010

“Juktibodhey bikoshito hok alokito kishore” with this slogan Bangladesh School of Debate Chittagong University Chapter (BSD CU) organized “Adolescents Awareness Debate Programme 2010” from January 18 23 at Regional Public Administration Training Centre (RPATC), Chittagong.

A total of 23 schools participated in the event which is the largest number of participation in any debate competition in Bangladesh. On January 18 a daylong debate workshop was organised following by the inauguration and the first round of the competition on the next day. Inauguration ceremony saw Chittagong City Corporation Panel Mayor Monowara Begum Moni as the chief guest while special guest was C.W.F.D. Project Manager Sinjida Alam.

After five rounds of competition Kapashgola City Corporation Girls' High School became champion beating Dr Khastogir Govt. Girls' High School where the topic was “Koishore bikashey poribar ba shomaj bebostha noy shorkarer shomonnito porikolponai joruri”. The best debater of the final was Joyita Banarjee of the winning team. In the impromptu speech competition Rahul Bonik of Lamabazar City Corporation Boys' High School came out as winner while in Barowari debate Rahat Hossain of J. M. Sen Bohumukhi High School became champion. Besides this, there was a different competition titled “Bitorker bishoy nirbachon protijogita” where Akash Debnath from Lamabazar City Corporation Boys' High School was the winner.

On January 23 Chittagong City Corporation's Chief Health Officer Dr Selim Akhter Chowdhury distributed prizes among the winners as chief guest while special guest was entrepreneur Delwar Hossain Khoka. Among others BSD Chairperson Advocate M Saiful Abedin, BSD CU Advisor Md. Taiyab Chowdhury, BSD CU President Probir Borua Chowdhury was also present in this six-day event. The guests appreciated the initiative and said that this type of programme should be organised more so that awareness could be build for adolescents' rights.

The event was supported by Chittagong City Corporation, C.W.F.D. and Action Aid Bangladesh while Star Campus was the media partner.


Northern College prize distribution

Prof. Dr. M. Shamsul Haque, Chairman of the Governing Body of Northern College Bangladesh is distributing prizes among the students who occupied first, second, third positions in the examination and the students who had 100% class attendance in the college. Md. Rezaul Karim, Pricnipal of the college is also seen in the picture.
