Rock-Hip hop Festival at RCC

IT has been a long time since the blend of both rock and hip-hop came into the scene. These two genres of music are like water and oil. Rock has established its status in the music scene of Bangladesh on the contrary hip-hop is still in its toddler stage in the music arena.

“Hip hop does not always mean slangs, “said Skylls of T.O.R (a hip hop band). Deshi MC's single in 'Kaata Taarer Bera' is about a boy who gets into the world of drugs at a young age. Despite the fact that this particular genre of music is packed with slangs, A.P.D's Shib-B and Norwestern Sharod barely speak of such profanity. "We used to go for fully expressing ourselves before, but now we think twice of what the parents would think when their sons and daughters listen to our music,” said Norwestern Sharod.

Black metal on the other hand is rare but has secured its place in Bangladesh. Satanik with Nayeem and Shawon on the guitar, Sajib on drums, Rubaiyat on the base and Xem on vocals were the first to pioneer black metal in Bangladesh. These bands along with Metaphor, 6th Element, Urban Fiction, Embers, Opus, Chinno, Psychopath, Jajabor, Radioactive and Bortoman performed at the show. In addition, from hip-hop there were Thugs On Roides (T.O.D), Thugs Of Dhaka (T.O.D), D33 and Uptown Lokolz to take the crowd by surprise.

In addition, there were some new faces and some old ones along with, the bonus of Dj Crazy to keep things moving smoothly. The concert was at Russian Cultural Centre on 18 August.

The sales will be collected and donated to the children of Charfassion Orphanage in Bhola. This concert is a part of the mass awareness program of the orphanage.
