Dream of Life

Nazwa Warda

DREAMS and hopes are a way of living with a positive attitude and approach towards life. Dreams build an inspiration in our soul to make things possible brick by brick, be it big or small. Dreams help a person to live with status, respect, honor, dignity, and with sense of self-satisfaction. Dreams convert surviving into living. A dream breaks the notion of the “Survival of the fittest”. A dream inspires the feeblest person to build himself to be strong and fit. All these feelings come out as a result of a dream, which sets one's soul free from any sort of agitation or hassle.

As a girl I grew up from my childhood with many tiny-little dreams, hoping to make them all come true someday. But in a society like ours and specially someone being away from the centre of the professional world and with very little scope towards making the dream come true, it becomes imperative for me to just let people know about this dream in my heart which may fill certain people's heart with hopes and with new visions for tomorrow.

Bangladesh is a country blooming with rich talents in the school, college, and university levels. But another very unfortunate factor that sets the country back is the lack of professional and certified research centers or institutes, lack of teaching facilities of the highest standards to compete internationally, and lastly, but most importantly, the scarcity of resources and funding initiated by the government or any private organization. This is again occurring due to the lack of interest of looking for something beneficial for the next generation and due to be short of the idea itself!

I have a dream. I have dreamt of it for a long time, but never shared with someone other than my husband after getting married. But the idea kept locked in my tiny little heart and found no infinitesimal hole to beam itself out till today.

It has been observed in our country that just after the school and mostly after the university level students find it very hard to either get a good job or continue their post graduation tenure within the country. There are several reasons behind this scenario. (i) There is very little or hardly any scope for specialization in certain fields like: Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Bio-technology, Aeronautics Robotics, Agricultural sector, Engineering management and many more. The most unfortunate part is that the country itself fails to flourish in the R & D sector due to lack of any proper and specialized enterprise of its own. Why we are just floating on a superficial level by being blown with the air of latest trends and upgrading technology facilitated by supreme powerful nations? What about our own innovations and discoveries not just for few developed countries for earning foreign currencies, but for our benefits and that for the whole world? People in our country have taken it for granted that this country of ours will never prosper or it will never be able to maintain some global standards in certain sectors. Well as for the scenario right now, the perception is relatively valid. But the picture can be changed though greater efforts and the thrust needed is pretty high and may seem impossible to many.

Establishments, like a research institute, will need a strong team of rich faculties, state-of-art research laboratories, research tools and equipments strong guided polices and strategies, to govern and systematize the whole administration and operation. It will need constant monitoring of the observations, of the procedures on board, support and accreditation by the government and last but not the least financial support and enough funding which are the backbone of any foundation.

As I have named it in my dreams, it should be called BRIT: Bangladesh Research Institute of Technology. In a broader sense it should culture, nourish, and aid the existing graduating students to continue their post graduation, in Master's or M.Phil through regular classes backed by the research faculty. In this way the current brainstorming will generate new ideas and innovative discoveries yet to be found and prevent flooding away of our talents to other developed countries for mere money and a good living.

This project that I have set in my mind, once approved in the national and government level, may have a good opportunity and scope to stabilize Bangladesh for competing in the global arena. So what if we are poor in our finances? We are not that poor in our thoughts. So from today readers it is expected and hoped that at least few of you will be there in taking any sort of initiatives to place a stone in building this platform. Remember that it is not any fancy shoe, dress, suit, or a latest brand of perfume that every other person dreams of. Very few dream about the steps of how to make this country a modern one.
