RU celebrates 56th founding anniversary

RAJSHAHI University authority on July 6 celebrated its 56th founding anniversary through a daylong colourful programme on the campus. The RU VC, Prof Abdus Sobhan, inaugurated the programme at Shabash Bangladesh Square on the campus by hoisting the National Flag and the university flag. The Pro-VC, Prof Muhammad Nurullah and other university high officials were present. In his speech, the VC mentioned with great pride the contributions of two prominent figures of the university: Mother Baksh and Shaheed teacher Prof Dr Shamsuzoha.

Later everyone went to place floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, University mass grave and at the grave of Shaheed Shamsuzzoha separately. There was also the launching of a tree plantation programme at the occasion. Afterwards, a discussion meeting was held at senate building. A special prayer was held at the university central mosque after Zoh'r prayers.

Among all the events, Kendrio Sangscritic Gote, organized a cultural programme, and the Rajshahi University Newspaper Readers Forum organized a debate competition commemorating the event. There was also a seminar titled “Bangabondhu ,Muktizuddho and Bangladesh” at RU Dean's vobon was organized by the Rajshahi University Debating Society.

Dhaka University Law department Dr. Mizanur Rahman spoke at the seminar as the chief guest while RU Law and Justice department chairman, Dr. Sarder Ali Akkas, was present as the special guest. Rajshahi University Law and Justice department Prof. Hasibul Alam Prodhan presented as key note paper on “Bangabondhu, Muktizuddho and Bangladesh” while there spoke RU Prof. Ananda Kumar Saha spoke among others on the seminar. Rajshahi University Debating Society (RUDS) president Prof. Habibur Rahman concluded the programme.
