Aktanin Khair Tanin

The first award ceremony of the Bangladesh Institute of Arts, Design and Technology (BIADT) under the Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT), was held at the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh on 3 March, 2007, where 76 students received diplomas some with medals for excellent performance certified by Edexcel International, UK.

Diplomas were awarded in Fashion Design, Fashion and Clothing, Graphic Design, Fine Arts and 3D Design. Mr. Alan Field, Regional Manager of Edexcel International, gave away the diplomas and medals for excellence.

In his address, Mr. Field congratulated the first batch of diploma recipients and said that these diplomas are unique in standard and can get them quality jobs home and abroad. They can also continue their studies to obtain higher degrees, he added. In his address of welcome, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shamsul Haq narrated how the founder of the university Mr. Imamul Kabir Santo realized the need for uncommon but necessary creative courses of studies. SMUCT now caters with a vision to find employment here and away for the talented youths who will eventually change the future of the country.

Among others present were the Santo-Mariam Foundation Chairman Mr. Imamul Kabir Santo, Vice Chairman Tahomina Chowdhury Kabir Mariam, Pro V.C. Sheena M. Falconer, Treasurer of SMUCT, SK Nowsher Ali, Edexcel country Manager Mr. Saidur Rahman, Dean, faculty members, students and their guardians. The ceremony was rounded off with an entertaining cultural programme presented by the students.
