Campus food

If you come toward the east of the main portal, the 4th science building in the Rajshahi University campus- transient, surrounded with multi-colored banners, moderately smoky, gently blowing plastic canopy houses a picturesque café that will allure you. If you have ever visited such cafés, then I'm sure you'll know what delicacy I'm talking about. Here some forty-year old khala will entertain you with hot kalai ruti (bread made of leguminous seed) the traditional food of Rajshahi. It is thick, humongous but crispy. You can enjoy it sitting on a mat spread over the ground, with tasty begun bhorta. This dish will cost you only five taka. If you eat fresh kalai ruti then it may seem somewhat bland but with spicy aachar oh! excellent! This mouth-watering, unadulterated, energy-giving kalai ruti will keep you active during all of your day's toil. While the country's top restaurants, bakeries are fined every now and then for selling dirty, adulterated food, this is one place where you can get pure gastronomical satisfaction. No wonder most of the University staff and students rush to the café for the traditional kalai ruti. Rajshahi's kalai ruti cannot be found anywhere else in the world, this much we can guarantee. So why should you deny yourself the pleasure of a lovely treat to kalai ruti when you're in Rajshahi?
