Fashion-Check out the new trends!
Yamin Tauseef Jahangir I guess almost everyone by now have a picture in your mind about how I would probably start with advertisements of different shops in Dhaka city, where to find what. But trust me, it's nothing like that and by the time you finish reading this article, you'll get a whole new definition of the word 'fashion'.
Well, the fashion trends of the teenagers have changed dramatically over the past couple of years or so. People once used to say old is gold, but nowadays people say old is gone for good. Teenagers at times wore ragged jeans, had a pretty barbaric style…long hair, long finger nails (even boys!), and their role models happened to be the stars from renowned heavy metal bands. Then things changed; teenagers became 'modern'. Now they don't follow anybody and rather have decided to be 'somebody'. That may be considered to be someone with great personality or someone as good as a clown. People recently have taken to few accessories as a new trend. These things were there from the very beginning but now they have got different meanings! For instance, sunglasses; it was worn to protect the eye from the sun, later it became a part of style, and now it has even started to alienate people. Regardless of the fact how you look in it, wearing bumblebee sunglasses are now in 'fashion'. I even saw my small cousin crying for them as he got inspiration from the Indian soaps. These glasses cover almost the entire face, and the person wearing them looks as weird as one wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. Okay, now let's come to the footwear. Recently snickers and slippers have become very popular. You'll notice every body wears slippers rather than sandal-shoes and this is how smartness is defined. There are people wearing bathroom slippers and slippers worn at home. These slippers have very obnoxious design, and the person's feet resemble that of a chicken or a frog. But people are really not bothered about it, rather they choose to have a taste of animal pride! I won't be surprised to find bunny slippers popular within a short time.
If this isn't enough for you people then let me help you out with a different class of fashion. People are now obsessed with 'huge' things starting from watches to trousers, or large cellular phones etc. The watches have bigger dials, probably relieving the person from the misery of informing the time to others. Then the trousers, which help to clean the floor when you walk around the house in an aristocratic manner! The cellular phones probably will come handy when you encounter any mugger. The device is sometimes larger than his poor rusty knife, and can be used as a lethal weapon, serving the purpose of communication and also security. As for girls, wearing large earrings are now a symbol of poshness. These are usually very large and some can be used as bangles. But you can't object to these changes, after all they are regarded to be 'kewl' (cool).
Apart from the accessories, people now have got serious appearance! I have seen almost every friend of mine keeping long hair and beard. When asked the reason behind it, the answer was “it's the Tom Cruise look dosto!” The girls are a step ahead in this case. You must have noticed nearly half the women population of our country got their hairs coloured, ranging from different shades of brown to turning into a typical blonde...such is the intensity of style even the mothers are not spared!
I can in fact go on with this new trend for another page, but that will not prove any point. All that we need to understand is why is there a cultural infiltration going on in our lives? Can't we just stop for a while and think out of the box? We are so influenced by other cultures and this has played a major part in changing our personality. But the question remains, is it really necessary and does it pay us off in anyway? Well it's up to you to find the answer. Trust me, be yourself, you're better off that way. If you think that doesn't make sense, then I will be happy enough to see you in the same fashion trend!
