A window to see the world
Insia Ishtiaq Juhi
A feeling of missing something gave birth to an idea and with the permission of the authorities it turned into reality --the APC -- AIUB Photography Club. The story behind APC is something like this: A student who was an admirer of photography and had some knowledge, found some people of same interest in the university. Though they shared same kind of interest, they didn't have the opportunity to go any further. Especially when they looked up to other private universities they started to feel the lacking of a club and they proposed the authorities about their idea and succeed in their second try. Now they are stepping forward towards their goals.
APC started its journey on 24th of December 2005. Though the youngest member of AIUB family its contribution to the student community is quite big. The executive body of APC has already come up with a day long BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP, which was voluntarily conducted by some expert students like Touhidul Islam Tuhin and Homaed Ishaque Moon. Other than this, Outdoor photography in Sonargaon, University Programme Coverage is included in their activity list. The Executive Committee of APC consisting Ehsan Uddin Ahmed (Moderating Faculty Member), Salahuddin Yousuf Rahat (President), Rajib Ahmed (Vice-President) Ahmed Sarwar (Secretary) Homaed Ishaque Moon (Executive Member), Touhidul Islam Tuhin (Executive Member), and Samia Matin (Executive Member) plan to conduct a month long training program for the current 20 members with the sponsorship of AIUB authorities and this training programme is going to be conducted by Shoeb Faruqee the founder of Chittagong Photo Artist Club.
Not only this but also APC plans to arrange monthly exhibition, competition and photograph sales and help the poor and accident victims with the photograph sale fund.
Though most of the members of APC are amateurs who consider photography as their hobby, there are some who are going deeper into this field; namely Homaed Ishaque Moon and Touhidul Islam Tuhin. They are participating in the CHOBI MELA, the International Photography Festival of this year.
It's tough to give life to a thought but youngsters like Rahat and Moon could do it. They could succeed in providing the student community of AIUB a different window to see the world. Now it's the members who are to make it stronger, so that they can provide the world with a new vision.
