Nibedan Director Biswajit Roy, along with his colleagues, handed over the cheque to poet Shamsur Rahman's wife Johora Rahman at her Shyamoli residence, says a press release.

Eminent cultural personality Ramendu Majumdar, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Secretary General Jhuna Chowdhury, painter Muniruzzaman, daughter-in-law of the poet Tia Rahman were present on the occasion.

Proceeds of paintings sale at a programme organised to pay homage to the poet in the city on September 1 this year will also be spent to preserve poet's memories, the press release added.
