DUJ condemns attack on journalists

Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) yesterday condemned the attacks on journalists in Feni and Pirojpur. In a statement, DUJ President Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan and General Secretary Omar Faruk demanded punishment to those who attacked Shafiul Haque Mithu, Pirojpur district correspondent of the Janakantha and Bakhtear Islam Munna, Feni district correspondent of the Ittefaq. They also expressed concern as the journalists in Jhalakathi, Barisal, Patuakhali and Rajshahi are unable to perform their duties due to lack of security of their lives. The DUJ leaders urged the government to ensure the security of all journalists for the sake of press freedom.
