Placing emphasis on the importance of the Rule of Law Dr. Nazrul said that the rule of Law would be ensured if the judicial branch of the government acted as its own body freed from the intervention and influences of the other branches of the government. Drawing analogy of the historical Beijing Statement of Independence of the Judiciary that reflected the view of thirty-two Asian and Pacific Chief Justices he said that the judiciary must be uninhibited by outside influences which might jeopardize its neutrality of jurisdiction. The influence might come from the organs of the government, from the media and from the superior officers.

Book Launch
Five Faces of Eve

Shayera Moula

In the crispy cool evening of 28th January, Words & Pages paid homage to the launching ceremony of Five Faces of Eve, a titillating collection of poems by Ms. Rumana Siddique. The publisher was none other than the popular publishing house Writers Ink. Ms. Rumana Siddique who has been abroad for 18 years and is currently a teacher at East West University portrayed the theme of womanhood in her collection mixing humor with her tears and comic with tragedy to formulate the true reflection of life.

Dr. Niauzzaman, the host of the program announced the energy of the book as it embodies so many colors from page to page. Both Professor Razia Khan Amin and Dr. Nusrat Amin spoke of the maturity and classical intertextuality within the poetry. While the former looked into the first poem of the book called “Alice in Neverland” a world too big or too small but never right the latter elaborated on the stalk reality and the nakedness of it that is reflected so intensely from the young poet. Throughout the book launching ceremony many passionate poetry readers students and teachers were present to recite their favorite poems from the collection. Ms. Afrin, a lecturer from IBA and several students from East West University took part reading a range of poems from the “girl section”. With each poem, it became evident that the new comer rejoiced the arena of womanhood and the democratizing of the feminist movement in her poems. “However, the manner in which this is done is subtle and so it offends no one,” claims Dr. Nusrat Amin.

The occasion ended with Rumana Siddique's speech. She thanked all her inspirers, her teachers, her guests and most of all her family. She also appreciated the critique by Prof Razia Khan Amin of some of her poems having an anti-climatic finishing and she was thankful for both Words n' Pages and Writers.ink's collaboration in this event.

Dr. Niauzzaman announced quite truthfully that the publications were actually done in a rush and so there might be a few mistakes in the collections still unchecked.

Story on Badhan

It is nice to see the cover story on Badhan .

It makes me nostalgic and takes back to the campus and lots of memories with the defiant members of Badhan. We were the member of Badhan in FH Hall and tried our best to keep up the mission. The thing was that, there were no voluntary organisation in the campus and some of the science gradute students from Biochemistry started the venture. We were very unlucky not to take part in the social activities in our student life as there was no option. Bandhan is the alternative option in this regard.

It's a great work to seek blood to its member along with a patient's relative the beginning we face a lot of problem to run the organisation but now its expansion is overwhelming. I remind the pioneer Ripon bhai, Shamma, Rakib bhai, Nayan, Monir, Ishtiak and their devotion for the organisation. It will work relentlessly for the mankind.

Badhan Story

Today a report has published in your magazine about Blood Donation & BADHAN. That's a nice report. But Badhan is a ''voluntary blood donor's organization'', not ''voluntary blood donation organization" as mentioned in the title of the report. So please give a correction notice in your next issue about that.

Thanks to your team from BADHAN family for this type of reporting. It will help us to expand our activities in future.
